We are almost one month into the new year, can you believe it?? ( I couldn‘t, when I saw that it‘s already time for the new newsletter)
Thinking about what value these newsletters could have for you, I decided that they need to be something new (something you don‘t already know through my social media accounts or phone calls, right mum?) and something FOR YOU. Because why would you read a newsletter that I am writing only for myself?
So let me tell you something NEW:
My most used phrase, that I am repeating all day long is: „I don‘t want to“. Mostly it‘s the first thing I say when I wake up and have to leave my warm bed and, like in the last months, when there are many different projects waiting to be worked on and I feel like hiding. Hiding from the cold day and from all responsibilities and from the puppets that are waiting with their sad eyes, full of expectation. Because, can I ever live up to their expectations? (Not to mention expectations from directors, collectors, curators, newsletter readers….) I guess one would call that insecurity/self-doubt. Now (something even newer) my new strategy is to outsmart insecurity with self-confidence. That‘s her:
Oh and please also meet Insecurity/doubt/mistrust
I am planning on building them a house sometimes. But please don‘t tell them because I couldn‘t live with their expectations.
Also, last time I promised a link on where you can find all the places that you can find my work this year (as far as planned right now) HERE it is!
And now; to close the circle on the topic, here is something FOR YOU:
Because sometimes we need a cheerleader from the outside to motivate the cheerleader on the inside. And to go from a „I don‘t want to“ to a „I AM HAPPY THAT I CAN“.
Print it out, cut it out, glue it on a piece of cardboard and put it somewhere you can see it (maybe right when you open your eyes) You could make a hundred little cheerleaders who cheer for you everywhere you go. Put one in your bag, glue it to your phone. Whatever it takes.
Oh, and a little footnote. Our little friend was lucky enough to have been asked for a short interview for Beautiful Bizarre Magazine. You should really read it, it’s HERE.
love reading your newsletters!
they always put a little happiness in my stomach, and in my brain; something to think about and ponder, phrases to be memorized, like "to outsmart insecurity with self-confidence" (also thinking what my therapist would say, in much stricter words ;)), and I think I should have a little fluffy self-confidence for my pocket, to carry around with me for all occasions where it's needed. now I also know why I always prefer dresses with pockets - to carry a little self-confidence with me.
and I also love little insecurity, looking grumpy in his little 1938-matchbox, looking serious in Sirius, what a match.
so thank you for your letters from the inside world, and looking forward to having coffee or so together sometime!
Oh it's newsletter time! I adore your friends Self Confidence and Insecurity/doubt/mistrust, thanks for sharing them.
I relate to what you said about expectations. I took a personality test recently and one of the questions was something like 'When I meet new people I immediately begin to fear the moment they will inevitably be disappointed in me.' I wonder if you feel that a lot like I did.
