Hello my old Substack friends,
As people migrate from Meta platforms to Substack en masse, I realize how cool we are for having already been here for over a year. We deserve an old-fashioned high five—like the cool kids we are.
THE INVISIBLE MAGIC OF DOORS
"Doors to the unknown"—it sounds grand, almost mystical. But in reality, we walk through doors every day without much thought. And yet, every door leads to the unknown.
Will we trip? What awaits on the other side? Endless possibilities, and still, we step through without hesitation. That’s bravery! I mean, we are not only cool, but also incredibly brave. If that’s not a wonderful way to enter a new year, a new month, or even just a new day, I don’t know what is.
But what if the doors don’t fit us? What if they’re too big, and we can’t reach the handle? Or too small, squeezing us tight no matter how hard we try to push through?
Doors are more than just physical—they are symbolic. Some open effortlessly, others remain locked, and some demand that we reshape ourselves before stepping through. In the case of our little friend. He might need to have a smaller version walk through the door.
DOOR EXPERIMENT
Now, I want to try something. A little experiment for the next week. Who’s with me?
Just a few steps for a new perception.
1° Notice – For the next day, become hyper-aware of every door you walk through. Pause before entering. What’s on the other side? How do you feel stepping through? Does the space shift your mood, thoughts, or energy?
2° Choose a Door – Find a door that intrigues you—one you pass daily but never really see. Maybe it’s an old wooden door, a hidden side entrance, or even the door of your own home.
3° Document It – Draw it, photograph it, describe it in words. What’s its story? What might be behind it if reality bent just a little?
4° Step Through with Intention – The next time you walk through that door, imagine it as a portal. Who are you before and who are you after? What changes?
