Guess what… It’s a Sunday! Well, almost. It’s not really Sunday but it’s a Holiday, here in Austria. And it’s the day after Sunday. And what did I promise when I started this Newsletter? Exactly, Sunday thoughts! (And Sunday thinking I did) I also promised that they will be deep, I am trying. But first; News! They are exciting for me and they could be exciting for all of us. Remember, when I was asking around for your dreams? I collected them for a future project and now IT IS HAPPENING!!
In this project I want to see if we can synch together through different rituals and create a shared experience for our brains. Maybe we can meet in this nowhere land called sleep, called dream? I think it’s possible to train our brains over the course of three weeks to share one big dream together. And we can all be home alone and still be part of a collective. You can also call it dream hacking, if you like. Dream engineering or dream infusion. Whatever we want to call it, let’s try it together.
WHERE
That’s the exciting thing about it. It’s HERE!! Online. The place for this project is, EVERYWHERE. Or let’s say, the project is where you are. It is where you sleep and it is in your head. We are going to be all meeting there. In your head, in your dreams.
HOW
With beginning of May, the 10th to be exact, we will start the project on my website. There will be little rituals to begin with. Things to do, to synch our dreams. It will have to do with movement, sounds and things to do before you go to bed. This list will be updated regularly and you can follow along. It will be growing over time and in the end, Connective dreaming.
The moment we close our eyes and fall asleep, we are no longer an individual but one collective consciousness.
Also on the 9th of May I will set up an Installation in Vienna, which sort of starts this first cycle of the dream experiment. The Installation is part of the Red Carpet Art Awards and it’s at the showroom Schottentor.
Now, how about one first step for you my dear Newsletter subscribers. We prepared a little video tutorial on how to build a dreamcatcher. It’s pretty easy and I am pretty sure we didn’t do it quite perfectly but hey, puppet hands.. I had to do most of the weaving and I am impatient. Anyways, enjoy, follow along, make your own. You are gonna need it.
Thank you Fractal Ruis for letting me use your magical sounds for this video.
And here’s to putting the WE in DREAM. Thank you for dreaming with me, Erik Jan Rippmann.

Yes! This is so exciting. Travel normally scares me but astral travel on the other hand, count me in. Extremely clever to find a we in dream. Do you think there will be an issue with time zones?
It was some years ago, maybe 10? So my recollection is a little hazy. It was hyper-local, did t have as much prep as yours but there was poetry, suitcases blankets and pillows involved, candle-lit pathways to napping areas carved out of high meadow grass. Outside at night high summer. We took a few long exposure photos from a distance, but I have no idea of where they are now.
I’d say it was a success- good participation, everyone had a positive experience and there was a collective dreaming. I don’t think everyone had the same dream? But there was definitely unified mind and collective experience.
All to say, worthwhile so my thinking is for you to proceed with abandon! And see what happens! 😁
