Do you remember the art show I had in Germany back in February? The one titled “Are We There Yet?” It explored that lingering feeling of never quite arriving where you think you should be. And guess what? I’m ending the year with the same feeling.
This year was almost a good year—but not exactly what I wanted it to be. A lot of wonderful things happened, and yet, getting me into a relaxed and happy state seems to take a lot. (Anyone else?)
HOLLYWOOD CONTRASTS
If you follow me on Instagram, you might know I spent some time in the U.S. recently. Living close to the Hollywood sign and celebrity mansions, while also seeing someone setting up a tent right outside on the boardwalk, really made me think. It’s a stark reminder to question what “there” actually means—and how elusive that destination can feel.
I love reflecting, maybe too much for my own good. This is why I’m bringing back the template I shared last year. Remember the one where we rate different areas of our lives from 1-10? I fully intended to do this monthly in 2024. Did I? Nope. But let’s do it together now. If you’d like the template again, you’ll find it attached or linked below.
After you rated each area, you can reflect on what went well with it and what went really badly. Take another piece of paper and write down what you you intend to change in that area for the new year.
AN OPPORTUNITY
As I continue to grow and share my work with the world, I’m looking for someone who can help me take things to the next level. Think of an art manager or dealer—someone with connections (ideally international!), a passion for art, and the drive to actively reach out and champion my work.
If you, or someone you know, fits this description and believes in my work, I’d love to hear from you. You can reach me at hello@claudiasix.com. Let’s create some magic together!
THANK YOU (POSTCARDS AND SECRETS)
Typing my email just reminded me—thank you to everyone who trusted me with their home address for postcards! I sent them all out, and I hope they’ve reached you by now.
Also, if you’re curious about my time in the U.S., you can read about it on my blog and explore my website. There’s even a hidden secret on the site. If you unlock it and tell me what it is, I’ll send you a little surprise (probably a postcard ^^)
I will also tell you another secret and I know Dusty wouldn’t want me to, because he is ashamed that he hasn’t found a home yet: (whispering) Our good boy is still hoping for a loving family this Christmas. He’s waiting patiently and ready to bring some magic into someone’s home. He also is extra sad because his friends in Tuscon both found new homes. Which seems a bit unfair to him. Which also seems unfair now is, that I am sharing pictures of them, not him.
Right Now
Currently, I’m busy rehearsing with Nesterval Theater, an immersive theater group I’ve been part of for almost ten years. We’re preparing “Götterdämmerung” for the Staatsoper Vienna’s new venue, Nest. It’s a wonderful production that I’m proud to be part of, even though I perform with them less often these days. It’s sold out (sadly for anyone wanting tickets, luckily for us), and this will keep me busy for the rest of the year.
Thank you for sticking with me through this letter. I promise to keep sharing more stories, art, and reflections—and maybe even some surprises. And because I am aiming high, there will be one last Newsletter later this month.
Until then,
With love and dusty puppet dreams,
Claudia
And here is a picture of Dusty. I didn’t have the heart to not add him.
